​​Mitchel was fostered at the age of 2, but since then the Foster mother has been beating her inflicting injuries to the young girl. Mitchel had started escaping from her foster mother and could be missed for weeks. During the follow up visit, the Children’s officer intervened and recommended that she be placed in Amukura Orphanage home.
